The Department of Horticulture and Crop Science (HCS) is based on two campuses in Ohio: one in Columbus and the other in Wooster.
Faculty and staff in HCS teach over eighty undergraduate and graduate courses and they have a diverse approach to research. Another focus is Extension and Outreach, many HCS programs work with local communities all across the state.
Alumni from HCS have gone on to be highly successful in their careers. Our alumni include major league ball-park or golf course superintendents, academics, technical specialists, landscape designers, farmers, pro golfers and entrepreneurs. What binds them all together is their love of the outdoors and a strong desire to manage the environment in a sustainable way.
The labs and facilities in HCS are second to none. Each of these facilities support teaching, research and extension outreach efforts:
- Controlled Environment Agriculture Research Complex (CEARC)
- Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens
- Ornamental Plant Germplasm Center
- OTF Turfgrass Research & Education Facility
- Faculty Labs
