The course is organized into 9 modules, one for each week of the quarter except the module on the Plants of Horticulture that lasts 2 weeks (see the next section, Course Outline, for more details).  Each module includes reading assignments, web-related activities, questions to be answered, and other activities.  There are a minimum set of required activities and numerous optional activities.  You will probably need to spend 5-10 hours per week on each module. Why 5-10 hours? The course is worth 4 credits which translates into either 4 lecture hours per week or 8 lab hours per week, not counting separate study time which is usually considered 2 hours per week for each credit.  The same general rule holds for web-based courses.  That is why a 12-credit load is considered full-time, requiring about 40 hours per week of involvement.
