The purpose of my website is to provide a general education of the selection and proper maintenance of trees and shrubs that are "hardy" to hardiness zones 3 through 6, which is basically from Upper Michigan to Lower Kentucky surrounding Ohio. Also, my website has more information on the plant selection and maintenance such as the diversity of plants, hardiness zones, soil and fertilization, and pruning if the viewer of my site would like to find more information on this subject. My goal is to help better inform and educate homeowners so that they can make better decisions on selecting plants properly. |

My site was constructed to both represent a business as well as to teach. The site is the homepage for a fictional company created by myself. This website is also designed to help teach any interested people what the steps are that are involved in painting a logo onto a yard or a football field. It will also help people learn some things about latex based paints and why they are the best for use on grass. This site is very basic and is designed to just give a brief overview of what is involved. The information on this site was obtained from my studies at The Ohio State University as well as from my personal experiences while working at The University of Colorado. |

Many gardeners focus on eliminating insects from their garden. In doing so by traditional chemical techniques, they usually not only reduce pest infestations but significantly inflict damage upon the populations of beneficial insects that reside in the garden. Beneficials generally are slower to recover from such a hard hit, while many pests seem to be developing resistance to the pesticides used frequently. Part of an Integrated Pest Management program encourages the use of biocontrol methods, where insects and other organisms target plant pests. My website focuses on how to attract and, probably more importantly, maintain a variety of beneficial insects in the home garden, including pollinators like butterflies and bees, predators such as lady beetles and lacewings, and parasitic wasps. Many gardeners have purchased beneficial insects only to release them never to be seen again, except maybe in the neighbor's yard. This website is designed to cover all aspects involved in increasing the home gardener's chance of getting beneficial insects to work for them. |

This website was designed and created to provide information to current Ohio State students and prospective high school students considering a degree in Landscape Horticulture at Ohio State. My website will help students learn about their career possibilities and make it much easier for them to decide what career field they would like to enter, where they would like to pursue full or part time work or an internship, and if they even want to stay in Columbus and work after graduation. This website provides general information about college prep, average starting salaries, and the ever-expanding Green Industry. It also contains more specific information about individual career paths; turfgrass, floriculture, nursery, retail, extension, design/build landscaping, public horticulture, horticultural therapy, and graduate school. Students can learn about classes to take to prepare for a degree in these fields and also browse businesses in Columbus. There are also links to very useful websites about building a resume, browsing OSU & H&CS, learning about study abroad, and searching for jobs in the Columbus area. |

Gerberslandscaping.com represents the beginning stages of my landscape business website. This website has basic planting information directed towards new homeowners. I plan for them to give basic knowledge about their landscapes to allow the customer understand some complexities that derive from landscapes in general. I accomplished this task by breaking the terms into simple webpages allowing them to pinpoint particular problems and/or to avoid such problems. The webpages are split into my resume, the home page, pruning, mowing, planting beds, fertilizer applications, and microclimates. In these particular webpages, I provided a picture to help demonstrate the topic of the webpage. I also included a simple diagram on the pruning webpage to demonstrate what a V crotch is. I believe all these things will help my future customers learn and apply the knowledge I laid out for them. |

Taking in to account the knowlege and rich education one receives at a university can be mind boggling. The information we receive here at OSU is in accord with our future prospects in the real world. My future occupation lies within becoming a superintendent at a golf course. The education and knowledge superintendents must possess must be be far superior in an abundance of areas above those working around them. My website is garnered to that student or turf apprentice who is seeking that status in the turf industry. It is centered on the area of turf diseases. Disease education or pathology requires an abundance of knowledge. My task on the website is to deliver the nuts and bolts of identifying and controlling turf grass diseases. The objective is to make the material presented to students or those in the field simplified in a more informal manner. It is a site to broaden their backgrounds away from the classroom. In addition I have provided numerous beneficial links to scholarly sites for a more in depth look at the related topics. In all I feel this site is in its infancy stage where in time it can become a place where superintendents can go to refer to specific topics in turf grass diseases. |

My website, Landscaping 101, is for the owners of newly built homes. This website offers various landscaping packages that will meet anyone's needs. There are four packages offered. These packages range from the minimal covereage to the extravagant. There is a property layout that is used, but this is only to provide a visual. It is not to be thought as the only layout that is available. I realize that properties and houses come in a variety of shapes and sizes and that the landscaping for each will differ. The website also describes the maintenance levels of each package. This is a very important section because an extravagant landscape will require the most maintenance. Someone who is looking for the best landscape but does not want the extensive maintenance may opt for a lower package. It has been my experience that many home owners do not realize the amount of maintenance that their newly installed landscape requires until it is too late to change the layout. Another part of the website describes the difference in the plants that were choosen. This is very important for the home owner because it helps in determining the amount of required maintenance It also allows for the colors of the landscape to either be greatly expanded or greatly limited. With increased color comes increased maintenance. Another aspect of Landscaping 101 is that it has a link to look for specific plants of interest through Ohio State University's horticulture departments website. This is a great option because Landscaping 101 only gives general information on the types of plants where as the link will provide the home owner with specific requirements for any plant that they have an interest in. |

My term project is over developing a beter understanding of your property and landscape. It's directed to new home owners as well as anyone else who is looking to redo their landscape. The website is broken down into five different ares to help cover my main points: understanding your property, neighborhood restrictions, soil types, pest problems, and plan for all seasons. In each I elaborated a little bit more on the main topic and included some helpful links to support my data. Each section was broken down and easy to follow throughout the page. Under the understanding property, I talked about realizing the space you have and the best way to utilize that space. In the neighborhood restrictions part I discussed setbacks and easements. The link on the soil types page gave a couple maps of Ohio soils that will helpfully be useful and back up my talk about slopes and land forms. Under the pest p roblems page I discussed some pests and gave examples of plants that will help prevent pests. I also talked about some of the wanted pests and ways to attract them. Finally, I gave a lot of examples of some plant material to help the reader "plan for all seasons". It covers what is important in all four seasons. Each page is linked back to the index page for an efficient and quick way to go back. |

My website, Maintaining Power Equipment for the Homeowner, does several things for its reader. It first explains the use of different types of power equipmnet. Another page talk about the proper way to use power equipmnent. And the last two pages tell what seasons to use it and how to store it. This website is not intended for the professional landscaper, but more for the average homeowner looking for some basic answers on outdoor power equipment. |

I wanted to create my website as a learning tool. I hope that the content in my website as well as the way that the material is presented will help the average homeowner master the basics of home landscape improvement. I have chosen to focus on five areas in which a landscape can or should be improved. First I chose to give homeowners some incentive for improving there landscape be discussing some benefits that come with it. Such benefits include an enhanced curb appeal, more home value, and having an outdoor sanctuary to enjoy. I also focus on ways to improve the quality of the outdoor living space. By quality of outdoor living space I mean that there will be a new since of pride for the outdoor space. Also, there will be more use from the landscape as well as more visual enjoyment. I wanted to include a section of the site that dealt with problems that are often encountered in the landscape. Such problems may be related to pest and insects, diseases, or perhaps the problem is cultural meaning that there is a better way to take care of some aspect of the landscape. Another area I focused on in this project was an overview of site conditions and the effects these conditions will have on plant selection. This includes a list of common microclimate conditions for each side of the house. And the last main area of my website is a basic checklist for insuring that the landscape you are improving is installed correctly. I feel that I have strengthened this project with photographs that say more than words could do alone. Each page has a link to the home page as well as links to the other pages. Though I could have made my website better by having more links to related sites I did include a goggle engine search for each page. |
| Catherine Moffat | sweetsocialbutterfly.tripod.com/ This website is for interested home gardeners ready to learn about butterfly gardening. Butterfly Habitats consist of components and specific needs for a butterfly garden. It also touches on the love-life and life cycle of butterflies. I have a long list of plants that attract butterflies and OSU plant search to further learning of plants. To design one must know design principles and know how to create unity within a garden. There are also important things to consider when installing a butterfly garden, such as location, light quality, soil conditions, water supply and local regulations. And to add a little fun, an identification page naming species of butterflies and a link to see lots of pictures of butterflies that can be found in Ohio. I would like to improve my website and add a lot more content but for now this is what I have to show. |

The purpose of this website is to give home gardeners insight into how to make their landscape more ecologically responsive. By designing with nature, natural forces will work with a design, making it ecologically sustainable. Ecologically responsive designs can be easily achieved and many examples given on this site can give the gardener a good place to start creating their design. Sustainable designs are very important because they protect our wildlife and reduce the negative impact that residential landscapes have on the environment. This website is important to the homeowner because creating an ecologically responsive design will save time, energy and money as well. |

Misinformed or uneducated homeowners often face many problems and decisions with their landscape. However, it all starts before a shovel is even picked up and oftentimes begins with a design idea. This website helps inform the homeowner or designer with the aspects that make this first step essential into a successful landscape. Characteristics such as ecosystem relationships, understanding formal and informal designs, environmental influences, and hardscape features all play vital roles in the landscape. The easy navigation, information, and pictures help make this site informative and fun, yet easy to browse. Enjoy! |

My web site is about how to build retaining walls and paver patios, providing students in landscape horticulture and formen of landscape construction companies basic skills for building either type. The main reason I choose to make my web site about hardscape projects for landscaping was because I have a fairly good amount of knowledge and skill for building patios and retaining walls. My home page has basic descriptions of the other web pages for my web site. The top of the page, along with all of the other pages has a original header describing the site by saying ÒHow to build paver patios and retaining wallsÓ. I included a picture of a large retaining wall project I helped build this past summer which is in the final stage of completion. Below the picture is a table broke up into two columns: paver patios, retaining walls. In the paver patio column, I have three web pages that can be accessed with descriptions below for each web page. The first page is the basic steps to build a paver patio from start to finish. Most of my pages are brief descriptions for each step or idea that I wanted to describe. A person viewing my site would probably have a good idea of how to complete the project, but would or should need to research another place for more information. The second page describes a couple of techniques that would help the person building the patio give the patio better ascetic appeal and help save them time. The final page for patios describes material and equipment need to complete the project. The page will have pictures of different types of pavers and patterns to choose from. The other column describing how to build a retaining wall is design similar to the paver patio column. The first page describes the basic steps to build a retaining wall. The second page gives examples of tools and techniques to improve the quality and appearance of the retaining wall. The final page gives examples of material and equipment that will be needed for building a retaining wall. At the bottom of all of these pages is a box that allows one to jump back to any page or home. |

This web site is designed specifically for younger farmers with decision making authority to teach them how to use precision agriculture to increase yield, profit, production and decrease compaction, erosion and fuel cost. This site also goes in depth on telling you specific precision agriculture tools such as GPS and auto steering tractors. The goal here is to make the farmer more aware of whats out there in the field of high tech agriculture. |

I resently created a web page for my busniess Sunflower Services. My term project was a learning center to educate people on some basics concepts surrounding the landscaping world. I have selected some areas I think everyone should have some knowledge in the areas of lawn care, planting, pruning, year round color, and vegetable garden site selection. With all that information out there it was hard to screen for the very basic informaton. I am looking forward to updating my center in the spring. I think everyone should try to make a web page. |

My website was established for any student in Turfgrass Science or anyone who wants to learn general information on different turfgrasses. The website provides information on ways to identify various warm and cool season grasses. Also, this site gives examples of equipment that is typically used on a golf course. Different uses for warm and cool season grasses are also listed on this website. The site does not go into great detail on every aspect of the turfgrasses, but hopefully it is helpful in providing students with general information that may sound too complicated in the words of a professor. Any questions can be e-mailed to me at Trubisky.4@osu.edu. |

This website, I created, was designed to help home owners learn about the installation of plants and a patio around their home. This site goes over the basics of the “how-to” process. The steps are general and widely used in the industry as a guideline to follow. The steps can be and are manipulated to fit each individual project. Although I have gone over the basic steps the homeowner or the company installing the patio and plants may not use exactly the same steps. I have created a website to help aid homeowners in the installation of a patio. My goal was to have the homeowner be more familiar and comfortable with the project. The goal was not to have them become an expert. The information provided is a combination of ways I have installed patios and ways have seem patios created. The site also leads visitors to become active as they read the site. By being active by surfing the links, interacting with the area your patio will be placed, and going to visit local businesses you will gain much more information than I can ever feed you from this website. The site goes over everything from choosing the site to relaxing after your patio is complete. I hope you will leave the site intrigued by what you have read and learned. |
