Stomatal imprints

Method
  1. Make a leaf imprint. Smear a thin film of silicon over a 2 x 2 cm surface of leaf (dry 24 hrs)
  2. Peel the silicon from the leaf. Place 1-2 drops of nail varnish onto a microscope slide, and lay the silicon imprint onto the nail varnish. (Take care which side you place onto the nail varnish). Dry 24 hrs.
  3. remove the silicon film, and view under a microscope
