Monocarpic senescence is typical of :
- annual plants
- deciduous trees
- evergreens

- Monocarpic means flowering once: so these plants die after flowering, a pattern normally associated with annuals.
- Total plant senescence occurs in monocarpic plants - there would be no tree left to overwinter.
- Total plant senescence occurs in monocarpic plants - evergreens typically show a sequential pattern of senescence
