Physiology - Senesence

 

Monocarpic senescence is typical of :

  1. annual plants
  2. deciduous trees
  3. evergreens

  1. Monocarpic means flowering once: so these plants die after flowering, a pattern normally associated with annuals.

     

  2. Total plant senescence occurs in monocarpic plants - there would be no tree left to overwinter.

     

  3. Total plant senescence occurs in monocarpic plants - evergreens typically show a sequential pattern of senescence
