Redtwig Dogwood Family:
Cornaceae Description:
Redtwig Dogwood (also known as Red Osier Dogwood, Redstem Dogwood, and even encompassing some forms of the species Cornus alba) is noted for its bare red stems in winter. Since the best red color is achieved on juvenile growth, rejuvenation pruning to the ground is recommended every early spring on established shrubs, and every other spring on young shrubs. This cultural practice also applies to coral- and yellow-stemmed forms.Black & White version for printing |
