 Scientific Name:
Cornus alba Family:
Tatarian Dogwood Family:
Cornaceae Description:
This mass planting of Tatarian Dogwood shows its bare red stems in Winter, but also shows the numerous gray stems that are actually dead and detract from its Winter appeal. Rejuvenation pruning to about four inches above the ground every other year maintains the vigorous juvenile growth that results in thicker, healthier red stems. Foliage vigor is also improved, but flowering and fruiting are sacrificed the first year of this two-year cycle.Black & White version for printing |
