Ohio State University Plant Dictionary

Scientific Name:
Cytissus scoparius 'Moonlight'

Family:
Moonlight Scotch Broom

Family:
Fabaceae (or Leguminosae)

Description:
At least two types of shrubs provide unique dormant season appeal through their bare green stems in winter: Japanese Kerria, and the Brooms. In fact, Scotch Broom may lose its leaves entirely by mid-summer, as its green stems apparently provide photosynthetic capacity for the remainder of the growing season.
