Scientific Name:
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Tokyo Delight'

Family:
Tokyo Delight Bigleaf Hydrangea

Family:
Hydrangeaceae

Description:
A special type of Bigleaf Hydrangeas are the Lacecaps, which have a sterile outer ring of florets on a broadly flattop inflorescence, similar in appearance to Climbing Hydrangea, Sargent's Viburnum, European Cranberrybush, and most cultivars of Doublefile Viburnum. 'Toyko Delight' is blue-purple in acidic soils, but white-pink in alkaline soils. Most Lacecaps are only hardy to zone 6, while Hortensias (the "snowball" types) will usually bloom following half of the zone 5 winters, if no mulching of the lower stems has occurred.
