Family:
Fabaceae (also known as Leguminosae)

The prostrate "ornamental weed" known as Bird's-foot Trefoil can often be found flowering in hay fields or herbicide-challenged dried lawns in mid-Summer, where its deep tap root system allows it to secure an ample source of water during periods of drought, keeping its foliage dark green and its yellow flowers in prolific bloom.
