Scientific Name:
Salix discolor

Family:
Pussy Willow

Family:
Salicaceae

Description:
The upright, relatively unbranched stems of this selection of Pussy Willow are laden with showy immature staminate (male) flowers that herald the arrival of Spring with their silky hairs that resemble those of a pussy cat. Later, the yellow stamens laden with pollen emerge to give this shrub a yellow cast that is less appealing.
