Ohio State University Plant Dictionary

Scientific Name:
Spiraea japonica 'Shirobana'

Family:
Shirobana Japanese Spirea

Family:
Rosaceae

Description:
Shirobana Japanese Spirea is unique in that three floral colors (white, medium pink, and dark lavendar) all exist on the same shrub at the same time. Also known as Shibori Japanese Spirea, it is an underutilized shrub in modern landscapes, blooming heavily in mid-June and sporadically for the remainder of the growing season, reaching three feet tall by four feet wide if never pruned, but responding very well to heavy shearing or rejuvenation (as do most Spireas).
