Scientific Name:
Ocimum basilicum 'Purple Ruffles'

Family:
Purple Ruffles Sweet Basil

Family:
Lamiaceae (or Labiatae)

Description:
Although usually sold as a tender herb, Purple Ruffles Sweet Basil makes a bold statement in sunny annual beds. When placed in full sun but in close proximity to full shade, it can be juxtaposed with chartreuse-colored Coleus for a stunning contrast of foliage colors. Alternatively, it can be combined in sunny spots with Flowering Tobacco cultivars that have lime flowers.
