Department of Horticulture and Crop Science

The Department of Horticulture and Crop Science is an engaging program filled with in depth learning experiences, scientific discovery, research opportunities, and respected academics. We have two majors, Sustainable Plant Systems and Professional Golf Management. Our Sustainable Plant Systems major prepares students for successful careers in the fields of Agronomy, Horticulture, Landscape Design and Management, and Turfgrass Science. Professional Golf Management helps students become PGA professionals. With its devoted faculty and staff, the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science is committed to providing an excellent educational experience for each student. Students will have opportunities to join clubs, research projects, and internships that provide additional educational experiences outside the classroom. Come grow with us! 

News

  • The CFAES Celebration of Students Program is seeking interested students to serve on the 2017 Steering Committee. This is an end-of-the-year celebration recognizing the accomplishments of the students in our college; the entire event is created and produced by students.

  • The Department of Horticulture and Crop Science held its Graduate Research Retreat on October 13 and 14 in Wooster, Ohio. The retreat is a way for the graduate students of HCS to show off their hard work. Oral and Poster presenations were held over the two days.

  • Mary Maloney, the Director of the Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens was awarded the Shirley-Brooks Jones Award on November 3, 2016 The award is given annually by the Univerity Staff Advisory Council.
