Department of Horticulture and Crop Science
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Departments of Horticulture and Crop Science and Plant Pathology joined forces to celebrate our Undergraduate and Graduate student awards with an Ice Cream Social in the lobby of Kottman Hall yesterday. The event had ice cream from the Parker Dairy Store, a part of the Department of Food Science and Technology. Undergraduate scholarship award winners were presented with certificates at the Ice Cream Social in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement. Twelve students were initiated into the Epsilon Chapter of Pi Alpha Xi (PAX), a national honorary and professional society for Horticulture at the Ohio State University Thursday evening, April 10, 2014. PAX recognizes junior and senior students with high scholastic achievement who demonstrate a strong interest in horticulture. Candidates also show promise for continued activity and commitment to the field of horticulture. (http://pax.ashs.org/)

ARCHBOLD, Ohio - Vegetable crop and specialty fruit producers who want to learn more about the use of high and low tunnels can attend a workshop and farm tour April 24 held by educators from Ohio State University's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.
The daylong workshop will feature small group discussions on the basics of integrating tunnel systems into fruit or vegetable operations, said Eric Richer, an Ohio State University Extension educator. OSU Extension is the outreach arm of the college.
