Greetings.Â I work for OSU’s Office of Information Technology (OIT).Â This presentation is an excerpt from a session I facilitated at the March 2006 Oracle Alliance HEUG Conference (Higher Education User Group) in Nashville, Tennessee.Â This is a brief overview of some best practices for providing system communications to the end users ofÂ OSU’s PeopleSoft based Administrative Systems.Â I tend to speak really fast when presenting–if you blink while viewing this excerpt, you just might miss it.Â You may contact me at hunter.346@osu.edu.

The Akron-Summit County Public Libraryâ€™s Patent & Trademark Depository Library is the focus of my comment. It has been my experience that most public libraries do not have the capacity to develop the resources required to maintain a patent and trademark library. Usually special or academic libraries are considered more suitable for these resources. It is no small accomplishment then to have this distiniction.

A few thoughts regarding the Akron-Summit Co. Public Library.Â )My podcast wasn’t listed, so I stole Theresa Byrd’s audio!) Â IÂ enjoyed the Akron-Summit Co. Public Library’s website.Â The library looks spacious and modern, and I would like to visit them at some point, especially in light of their author series…Â Â I hope to see podcasts from this series in the future!Â

I looked at Akron-Summit Library’s webpage, as well as the others in our list, and found it enticing visually for the large picture of the author of the book,Witches – Gregory Maguire. The picture was the visual hook, as well as the large bold heading. This site had the best punch of the websites submitted.

This past academic year the librarians of the Beeghly Library spent time conducting focus groups and reviewing various academic Web page in an effort to find a good example for revising our page.Â One of the Web pages that the librarians liked was the CSU page because of how the page is organized.

What do I hope to take home from this workshop? Teens from our local Anime clubs will be able to produce their own podcast that will be updated on a monthly basis. I also hope to start using podcasting as a means of training staff onsight.
