ASSIGNMENT: 50% Teaching 50% Research
EDUCATION:
BA Biology Magna cum laude 1974 Millersville University, Millersville PA
PhD 1980 Michigan State University
POSITIONS HELD:
2001-Present Professor
1994-2001 Professor and D.C. Kiplinger Chair, Dept HCS, OSU
1980-1994 Plant Physiologist, USDA-ARS Biosci. Res. Lab., Fargo ND
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
Develop new methods that reduce production costs of ornamental crops by applying fundamental knowledge of critical plant processes. Extend knowledge of basic physiological processes in the context of ornamental and agronomic crop production to undergraduate and graduate students through development of formal courses.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Primary research interest is the physiological basis of flowering in ornamental crops, and investigates the signal transduction pathways by which environmental factors such as photoperiod and temperature lead to flowering. Also investigates the mechanisms by which abiotic stresses reduce crop yield and quality.
