AREA OF EXPERTISE:

Responsible for state-wide commercial nursery and landscape extension.

RESEARCH - focuses on ornamental weed control, with emphasis in alternatives to
chemical controls and reduction of herbicide usage in container production; fertility
trials particularly in containers; the interaction of temperature stress (high and low)
on disease susceptibility in ornamental production; Pieris germplasm evaluations and
plant improvement.

EXTENSION - regular column "Out and About with Hannah" in the Buckeye the ONLA trade
magazine and regular contributor to Nursery Management and Production. Speaks at national
and international conferences. In 2000 received the Oregon Association of Nurserymen
Dedication to Excellence Award for her role as Chair of the Ornamentals Northwest Seminar.
Responsible for Ohio's first Spanish/English newsletter for the green industry and website
of Spanish technical information resources.
