AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY IN EXTENSION,RESEARCH, TEACHING
Direct fund raising efforts of the Arboretum and Master Gardener Program. Lead annual effort to increase internal awareness and membership through OSU Campus Campaign.
Coordinate several major programs each year such as volunteer recognition, workshops, plant sales, arbor day celebrations, garden dedications, annual fund raisers, and donor appreciation events. Hosted international tour to England in 2003 and coordinating tour for August 2005. Recruit, train, and supervise 130 volunteers.
AWARDS AND HONORS
May 1998 - August 1998 Member of Livingstone Expedition. Participated in a 1300 mile backpack trek following the route that Africans Chuma and Susi follwed in 1873 when they carried the mortal remains of their friend Dr. David Livingstone from central Zambia to Bagamoyo, Tanzania.
April 1994 - October 1994 Member of the Congo Expedition. Backpacked and boated 2200 miles in re-creation of Henry Morton Stanley's 1874 trek to verify the sources of the Nile and Congo Rivers.
Invited out-of-state and/or international presentations: Spoke about African Expeditions at San Diego Zoo as part of American Zoological Horticulturists annual conference. 2000. Spoke about African Expeditions at Ag Communicators Association annual meeting in Toronto. 1999. Continue to speak to school children and civic groups about African Expeditions.
