After receiving his Master of Science Degree in Landscape Horticulture, Tom began his career as Urban Extension Agent, Youth Development, in the Richmond, Virginia area. He moved to Van Wert, Ohio following a 3 year stay in Virginia and served as Extension Agent, Youth Development.

In 1991, Tom became Supervisor of Horticulture for AmeriFlora '92, an international floriculture exposition in Columbus, Ohio. Following this unique experience, he joined the staff in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science.

His current job duties include management of the required student internship program, alumni and industry relations, and undergraduate student scholarships. His title is Student Services Coordinator/Intern Coordinator.
