To celebrate the 4th of July, the students suggested we have a traditional barbecue and invite our friends at Myerscough. After slight modification of the traditional menu (though we were able to get sweet corn and watermelon from Spain), we all enjoyed hamburgers (meat and veggie), hot dogs, chicken, baked bean, grilled vegetables, and crisps (potato chips). Our Eagle Scout Ryan, below demonstrated how to generate a 5000 F fire without the use of lighter fluid. He is ably assisted (from left to right, below) by Becky, Andy Taaffe, Mike Taaffe, and Susan. |

While the conversation was lively, the sounds of slurping and chewing were a bit more prevalent for a while and everyone enjoyed the edible finale of vanilla ice cream with chocolate fudge. Below: Left to right: Graeme and Becky share a chuckle, Kelly and Susan provide generous heaping of ice cream, and Matt and Jim get the giggles every time there's a camera around. |
