Hampton Court Palace Gardens

After visiting the flower show, I was able to take a quick peek at the gardens around Hampton Court Palace. Last year, Michael Knee prepared a nice report on their visit to Hampton Court, so I will not repeat it here and urge you to look it over before continuing.

Above: One of the hundreds of herbaceous borders that dot grand English gardens; and every one of them has a distinct and delightful character.

Above: It never ceases to amaze me that, here we are, at a latutide north of the base of Hudson Bay in Canada... and yet palm trees can be grown on protected sites. No wonder Britain is the world's garden!

Above: the sunken gardens at Hampton Court exuded formality, symmetry, and rigidity, yet they worked marvelously and were quite inviting.
