Ashgrove Nursery

  Ashgrove Nursery is a small wholesale nursery supplier located near Preston, Lancashire, that has been in business for 18 years. Ashgrove supplies mostly small privately owned landscape contractors.

 Ashgrove grows a large number of plant species and carries somewhere between 900 to 1000 plant varieties. Also, they grow potted plants in several sizes. From pints and 1 L plants all the way up to 160L plants, Ashgrove supplies them all. In addition, Ashgrove propagates most of its plants as well as creating its own potting soil from composted materials and peat moss.

 
In the greenhouses, drip irrigation is used to save time and effectively regulate water uptake and prevent overwatering.

Ashgrove actually imports some of its plants from Italy where these plants grow well and sells them in the UK where they can adapt and provide wonderful specimens. In addition to these rare plants, Ashgrove Nursery supplies some of the more popular landscape plants such as ornamental grasses, bamboo, and several varieties of herbaceous plants.

 Some of the most recognisable plants that Ashgrove produces are a number of hedge ready and windbreak plants typically used in the English landscape. Some of these plants include Beech, Arborvitae, Junipers, Cypress, and Cedars.

 As far as field production, Ashgrove has a 5 acre plot of land for growing field stock. The majority of the plants grown in the field are grown with a geo-textile bag surrounding their root balls. It is an effective way of limiting the amount of time and maintenance spent of root pruning.

For the landscape contractor, just about every size potted plant can be found and they will find they can get a little bit of everything. Ashgrove doesn't just supply certain types of plants, it supplies them all.
