Norton Priory

Mike enjoys the view from the South wall. It was new to most of us that there is a strategy to planning the planting scheme of a walled garden. The walls position affects the amount of sun that garden receive. The south wall is planted with shade plants. Filipedula was the showiest at this time.

There is a tradition for a walled garden to have a door on the South Wall.

Lana and Adam get a break from the rain inside the Apple Tree arbor.

Fortunately we were able to meet Joan, a full time caretaker of this garden who was willing to talk with us about the herbs and vegetables growing in this kitchen garden in addition to Ranger Paul's tour.
