Day one, Monday June 17, the group got straight down to work with John Smyth. We talked about client briefs and site assessment and went out to look at potential sites for the major group project: to design and install a garden on the Myerscough Campus.

One possibility was to renovate the garden installed by the 2000 group.

This site between some old classrooms and the visitor parking lot was another possibility.

The final possibility was this site next to the canteen. This is a highly challenging and very visible site but the students were unanimous in choosing it for their project. Although, almost immediately people starting saying what are we getting into? Nevertheless we returned to the site after dinner:
