Myerscough Quarry has been in existence for ten years and is now in its phase of restoration. This phase includes creating small lakes, where the digging has taken place, for leisure purposes such as fishing. This phase also includes incorporating sheep and cows into the landscape to restore much of the site to agriculture.
The banks around the site of Myerscough Quarry have been built up in order to screen the site from public view. Thus far, they have had no complaints from neighbors. They have used a minimal amount of topsoil and grass seed to cover up their waste area.
The purpose of a quarry is to withdraw valuable minerals, sands, and rocks out of the land for private and commercial landscape uses. In this particular quarry, they have excavated sand from the soil for use in football pitches and golf courses. They also make ready-mix mortars and building sand.
