Stapeley Water Gardens is an unconventional garden center experience. This is due to its unique displays and attractions, which bring 1.5 million visitors per year. Not only is it a garden center, but it also includes pets, books, food, crafts and patio furniture. The picture to the left shows the normal approach to display plant material. The picture on the right is ilustrates the Stapely approach: a garden shows the consumer how the plants can most effectively be used.
Here is a picture of the large water features that Stapeleys incorporates with their garden center. Virtually every plant in this scene is labeled and is available for purchase in the adjoining nursery.
This is one aspect of the "tropical oasis," which brings people to the garden center for a full day of exploration. It is a massive heated 6000 square meter glass pavilion. It is home to exotic plants, such as palm trees and the giant amazon lily pads. Exotic animals, such as piranha, reptiles, and song birds can be found throughout this tropical setting. There is also and aquatic wildlife exhibit which has sharks, stingrays, and other unusual sea life. With this unique approach to a garden center Stapeley has found a combination that brings people from miles.
