The Department of Horticulture and Crop Science offers four classes that can be used to fulfill the University's General Education Requirements. This is a great opportunity to meet the university requirements in a smaller classroom setting than traditional General Education Classes. There is also the opportunity to take introductory classes for elective credit or just for fun!

The Science of Sustainable Plant Production (3 cr.)
Description: Study of the cultivation, environmental, genetic, and social/cultural factors which influence the sustainable production of plants for food, fiber, ornamental and recreational uses.

- This is one of 3 GE Natural Science Courses offered by HCS (HCS 2200, 2201, 2202). This course has no lab.

Ecology of Managed Plant Systems (4 cr)
Course Description: Origin, diversification, and biogeography of plants inhabiting managed landscapes.

Form and Function in Cultivated Plants (4 cr)
Course description: An introduction to plant growth and development with special emphasis on structure function relationships important to productivity and quality in cultivated plants.

Data Analysis and Interpretation for Decision Making (3 cr)
Course Description: Basic concepts of probability and statistics applied to the interpretation of quantitative data.
This is a GEC Course in Section 1. Skills: B. Quantitative and Logical Skills
