HW4 - Web 2.0 Presentation |
|
|
|
|
HW4 has several activities. First, you are going to embed your audio recording into Blog #2. Second, you are going to create a PowerPoint presentation that serves as a "visual tour" of your Web 2.0 website. Third, you will deliver your presentation to the rest of the class, as I "capture" your slides and voice as an enhanced podcast. Parts 1 and 2 are due Monday, Feb. 2nd. Part 3 will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 4th.
Please review - PowerPoint Screen Capture Tutorial This tutorial requires QuickTIme Player software (Download free software )
Instructions: Step 1 - Embed Podcast (20 points) - Connect to the Virtual560 Ning network, click on your second blog and click on Edit Post. Copy and past the following code to your blog between the first and second paragraph:
<p><b>Audio Review:</b> <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://hcs.osu.edu/virtual/audio/player.swf" id="audioplayer1" height="24" width="290"><param name="movie" value="http://hcs.osu.edu/virtual/audio/player.swf"></param><param name="FlashVars" value="playerID=1&soundFile=http://hcs.osu.edu/virtual/audio/trhodus.mp3"></param><param name="quality" value="high"></param><param name="menu" value="false"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="never"></param></object></p>
- Notice the audio file name in line 5 of the code, trhodus.mp3. You need to change the name from trhodus to your name based on the list of finished recordings presented below. If your name is not on the list, you were not recorded in class on Monday. If you have not made prior arrangements, please call me immediately.

| - Preview your blog. Did the audio file play? If not, review steps 1 and 2. Check my example again.
Instructions: Step 2 - Create Presentation (40 points) - Using PowerPoint software (Keynote for Macintosh users), please create a presentation that will serve as a visual tour of your Web 2.0 website. Each of your slides should contain one or more images of your web site or portions of your web site. Annotating each slide capture with a circle or bold arrow is an excellent way to direct our attention to a specific portion of the screen. Adding an enlarged closeup view over an initial wide shot is also a good technique to help draw attention to what you are describing. Visual quality and design creativity is expected.
- The number of slides you create is up to you. However, a minimum of eight slides is required. The length of time allowed for your presentation is minimum of two and maximum of three minutes.
- If you are NOT experienced with capturing a screen shot from a web page, you should look at the free Windows program, MWSnap. This is a screen capture utility and can be downloaded for free at:
http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html
- Copy your presentation to a CD-ROM disk or USB drive and bring it to class on Monday, February 2nd. I will copy each presentation and return your disk or drive.
Instructions: Step 3 - Deliver Presentation (20 points) - Prepare to deliver a 2-3 minute presentation tour of your Web 2.0 website on Wednesday, February 4th, using the presentation turned in on Monday. No revisions between Monday and Wednesday are allowed. Minimum of 2 minutes required.
- An enhanced podcast file (audio and slides) will be created from each presentation. This file will be utilized in HW5.
