Daniel Quiroz Moreno Headshot

Daniel Quiroz Moreno was selected as 1 of 50 worldwide RStudio Diversity Scholars to attend the RStudio Conference in 2022. He is currently pursuing his PhD here in HCS in the Cooperstone Lab. We were super excited to hear of Daniel's impressive accomplishment & luckily, he had a minute to let us know just how meaningful being selected as a 2022 RStudio Diversity Scholar is.

What does winning this award mean to you?

As a biological data analyst, and software developer this is one of the highest awards you can receive. It represents the result of more than five years of using, teaching and developing software in R.

I applied for four years to this scholarship, and I am finally a recipient of this award. Consistency and having clear goals were the key to this achievement.

What are you most looking forward to at the 2022 RStudio Conference?

Networking is the most important goal of going to this conference that will expand my data analysis knowledge and could lead to future collaborations.

How do you use R to accomplish your research?

I use R to understand the chemical profile of crops, specifically apples, in what is called, metabolomics. My research is about revealing chemical compounds that apples produce and are health beneficial.
