Dr. Laura Jackson will deliver a Seminar on Friday, October 12 at 3:00pm

Dr. Jackson is a professor of biology at the University of Northern Iowa. Her two main areas of research fall under the umbrella of conservation biology: restoration ecology and sustainable agriculture.  She received her bachelor's degree in biology from Grinnell College, and a Ph.D. in ecology (and a minor in agronomy) from Cornell University. She teaches courses in ecology and environmental studies and does research on the restoration of biological diversity in agricultural landscapes. She is coeditor with Dana Jackson of The Farm as Natural Habitat: Reconnecting Food Systems and Ecosystems (2002). Dr. Jackson also advises the Professional Science Masters in Ecosystem Management, chairs the UNI Preserves Committee, and serves on the advisory board of the Leopold Center.
