Plant Pathology Seminar

Mar 31, 2014, 9:10am - 10:00am

Rick Bostock (Plant Pathology, UC Davis) will present a Plant Pathology Seminar: "Arachidonate-triggered immunity, predisposing stress, and mixed messages in plant-oomycete interactions”

About Rick Bostock:

Area of Specialization Biochemistry and molecular biology of plant-microbe interactions; diseases of orchard crops.

Research General areas of emphasis in my research program are the biochemistry and molecular biology of plant-microbe interactions and diseases of orchard crops. Current projects focus on abiotic stress predisposition to diseases caused by Phytophthora species, using model (tomato and Arabidopsis) and non-model (nursery ornamentals) systems. We are interested in the interaction of phytohormones and other signals that compromise resistance or prime the plant for susceptibility. Our applied research investigates fungal diseases of stone fruit species (Prunus), with an emphasis on canker complexes, brown rot, and selected post-harvest diseases.
