Masters student Matt Williams (L) won the SAFE Foundation Graduate Scholarship for his work on shade stress in sports stadia. Nick Fisher (3rd left) and Travis Hohlbein (2nd right) were awarded undergraduate scholarships.

  4. Rohanna will Go Far!

    Rachel Rohanna (Agribusiness/Turfgrass) is a senior and one of the best golfers at The Ohio State University. It is expected that at the end of her studies she will become a professional golfer, though she also has a grain farm that she runs with her fiance.  A campus newspaper ran a nice article about her that you can read here.

  5. Undergrad Represents Ohio at National Convention

    Sustainable Plant Systems Major Colin Barclay has been selected to represent the State of Ohio at the National FFA Organization (formerly Future Farmers of America). Colin is the state candidate for the role of National Officer within the organization. It is a huge honor to be selected and if chosen he will be taking a year away from his studies to fulfill Officer duties.

  6. Turfgrass Science Alumni in MLB Playoffs

    The Cincinnati Reds are hosting the Major League Baseball playoffs at Great American Ball Park this month and several HCS Turfgrass Management alumni are front and center. From left to right: Derrick Grubbs, Assistant Head Groundskeeper (BS 2004); Doug Gallant, Head Groundskeeper (BS 1994) and Robbie Dworkin, Ball Park Grounds Supervisor (BS 2010). Current Turfgrass Science Major Tyler Turner (not pictured) is also on the Reds ground crew.

  7. HCS Alumni Brad Bergefurd Receives the Shirley Brooks Jones Award

    Brad Bergefurd has been an Extension educator and horticulturist at the OSU South Centers in Piketon since 1992. The Shirley Brooks Jones Award is given to one who promotes the college's core values and goals. The college's core values are discovery, life-long learning, science-based knowledge, academic freedom, civility, professionalism, and diversity.

  8. Undergraduate Research Scholarship awarded to Elizabeth Baskin

    Elizabeth was awarded a 2012 Undergraduate Research Scholarship from the College of Arts and Sciences for her research project using Genotyping-by-Sequencing in soybean populations. Congratulations, Liz!
