Research Associate 2-B/H in Enology

Location: Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, The Ohio State University, Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, Wooster, Ohio.

Qualification and Responsibilities: The Ohio State University, Department of Horticulture & Crop Science has an open Enology Research Assistant position. This position will be headquartered on the OSU Wooster campus.  This is an exciting opportunity to have meaningful impacts in the enology and viticulture communities in Ohio. The research assistant will work closely with members of the viticulture and enology program at OSU. A minimum of BS or equivalent degree required, MS desired in enology, food science, microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry or closely related field. Demonstrated expertise and/or experience, with academic training in enology are desirable. Analytical capabilities are important, especially the use of lab instruments to measure grape and wine composition (pH, sugars, alcohol, SO2, etc). Responsibilities will include the following: assist with grape harvest, conduct vinification of grapes into wine; conduct chemical analyses of grape berries and wines; collect and analyze data; assist with sensory evaluation trials; summarize data and write reports; present research findings at local meetings; prepare manuscripts for publication; perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
