Online education: Is everyone hanging out with me?
Distance education has existed in the United States in one form or another since the first correspondence course in 1916.  The evolution of distance education tends to follow technology advancements.   Since the early 2000s with the growing acceptance of internet broadband online education has grown drastically with offering of massive open online courses (MOOC), certificates, and university degree programs.  Turfgrass management (HCS 2270, HCS 3475) offered online is extremely popular especially compared to the face to face or classroom instruction offerings.  The structure of HCS 2270 and HCS 3475 are described and the potential reasons for their academic success are discussed.
