Agricultural Weeds Outreach
Faculty in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science provide education and outreach to growers and homeowners in Ohio on weed management in field crops, specialty crops, vine crops, and home gardens. The goal of HCS weed extension programs is to educate growers about effective weed management decisions that reduce the overall use of herbicides, that maximize herbicide effectiveness, and that encourage other management strategies such as tilling, rotation, and other cultural control methods.
- Dr. Mark Loux hosts a You Tube page where he discusses not only problem weeds and their control but also research he is conducting. He also is a part of the Agronomic Crop Team.
- Dr. Doug Doohan hosts a weed management website that offers growers and herbicide applicators decision tools and also shares information on their labs latest research.
- Dr. John Cardina's lab hosts the Perennial and Biennial Weed Guide Website
All weed faculty present at conferences, give workshops and short courses, and contribute to pesticide applicator training and recertification credit courses.
