Our team integrates applied research, participatory Extension programming, experiential teaching and service leadership to strengthen the sustainability and viability of urban agriculture in Ohio and the Midwest–Great Lakes region.  

Ohio’s metropolitan areas serve as a living laboratory for urban agricultural innovation. From transforming vacant lots into productive landscapes to exploring innovative ways to produce food in urban spaces, our team conduct research, design and execute experiments, analyze data and share findings that deepen our understanding in horticultural food systems, with emphasis on produce quality, marketability and resource use efficiency.
