The first ever Urban Farm Education Field Day happened this past week on September 24th, 2025.
It was cohosted by The Ohio State University’s Student Farm and Urban Agriculture Extension team at the Waterman Agricultural & Natural Resources Lab. And let’s just say it was a great success!
This event offered lots of learning opportunities that support small-scale and urban farming, like hands-on activities, community connections, and plenty of great discussion of ongoing research.

The 2024 ASA-CSSA-SSSA International Annual Meeting was a success. We often refer to it as The Tri-Societies Meeting, since it's a combination of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA).
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Eugene Law has joined HCS as a visiting scholar while he finishes up his time as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the University of Delaware Department of Plant and Soil Sciences and his role as a Visiting Scientist with the USDA-ARS Sustainable Agricultural Systems Laboratory. In March 2024, he will move fully into his new role as an Assistant Professor of Weed Ecology with us here at The Ohio State University!
