2014 Arbor Day Celebration

COLUMBUS, Ohio, The Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens celebrated Arbor Day on April 25, 2014 on the Oval. The even kicked off with an Arbor Day Poem recitation by Karen Kaufman, a third year Middle Childhood Education major. Horticulture and Crop Science & Plant Pathology Systems Developer/Engineer, Brian Mowery was awarded the Collaborators Award. His family was present to celebrate his award which was presented by Horticulture and Crop Science department chair, Dr. Jim Metzger. The 2014 Lorax award was presented to Davis Sydnor (School of Environment and Natural Resources), Dan Struve (retired HCS faculty member), and Jim Chatfield (Extension Specialist, HCS & Plant Pathology). The Tree Campus USA Certification was presented and the dedication of Larix decidua (Larch), Zelkova serrata 'Variegata' (Japanese Zelkova), and Ulmus parvifolia (Lacebark Elm) followed. The celebration ended with a Tree Campus USA cake.
