American Society of Agronomy Announces 2014 Award Recipient

Steven Charles Parker, Ohio State Agronomy Club, East Canton, OH – Greenfield Scholars: Steven Parker is a student at The Ohio State University. He is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainable Plant Systems with a Specialization in Agronomy. His minor will be in Agricultural System Management. Mr. Parker studied two years at The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster, Ohio. He received an Associate’s Degree in Sustainable Plant Systems with a specialization in Agronomy from ATI. He also received the Outstanding Student award. This award recognizes the top twenty graduating students based on academics, but also many other things. During his time at ATI, he worked at Ohio Agriculture Research and Development Center in the Viticulture Lab where he was a student lab assistant.

During his college career he helped work on the family farm whenever time permitted.  This past summer his internship was at Agland Co-op at their Westville Agronomy Location.  This internship included treating seed, scouting fields and working with custom applicators.

The Greenfield Scholars program is sponsored by the American Society of Agronomy and the International Certified Crop Adviser program with the specific purpose to support outstanding undergraduates in a Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science program with plans to enter the workforce upon graduation and pursue the Certified Crop Adviser /Certified Professional Agronomist profession and certification.
