Christopher Doig Receives the 2025 HCS Oustanding Senior Award

Each year, the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science (HCS) hosts a Spring Soiree to recognize the remarkable achievements of our students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends. 

This year Christopher Doig received the 2025 HCS Outstanding Senior Award for excelling throughout his undergraduate experience (within and outside the classroom) in the areas of academics, service, and influence. Christopher will be continuing to build his family farm and expanding his knowledge of CEA production in Delaware, OH...


What got you interested in Sustainable ag?

An interest in how alternative tillage systems and covercropping impact soil characteristics and, especially in context of small-hold market farming.

What were some highlights of undergrad for you?

 Assisting with research projects in Kubota Lab & gaining experience under some amazing mentors at CEARC.

What were your thoughts on winning the HCS Outstanding senior award?

Honored to have been nominated for this award!

ANy advice for students considering studying plant science or pursuing plant science related careers?

Establish relationships with faculty and staff & get involved on the farm/in the greenhouse whenever possible.

What's up next for you?

Continuing to build our farm and expanding my knowledge of CEA production in Delaware, OH.
