Congratulations to Evili Martins for taking home 2nd place in the MS Research Category at the Graduate Research Symposium. The Graduate Research Symposium is an annual event hosted by the HCS Graduate Student Association that provides HCS students and faculty from both our Wooster and Columbus campuses to come together to share their research!
Evili is currently pursuing her master's degree under the advisement of Dr. Michelle Jones. In her words "I'm researching Beneficial Bacteria application in ornamental plants under abiotic stress, as an alternative to increasing plant quality in post-harvest".
We're thrilled to have Evili in our department and fortunately she had a few moments to shed some further insight into her experiences at the 2024 Graduate Research Symposium...
WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS ON WINNING THIS AWARD?
I was thankful and glad to receive second place in the competition. There were a lot of great projects being presented and I couldn't be more honored, especially in this last semester of my program.
HOW WAS THE GRS OVERALL?
I enjoyed hearing about my peers' research and projects, and the GRS is a great moment for us to share it with the whole department.
HOW’S YOUR RESEARCH GOING CURRENTLY?
My research is complete regarding my thesis content since I am defending in early April. I am currently working on cut flower and drought stress experiments in greenhouse.
