The 2025 Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Conference and Show provided an exceptional opportunity for our turfgrass science students to network and gain insights into the latest advancements in golf course management. Our students also demonstrated their expertise during the Turf Bowl, with The Ohio State team taking home 5th place!

What were some highlights of GCSAA?
Some of the highlights of GCSAA were seeing a lot of the new technologies that companies are coming out with at the trade show and getting to see friends from other schools.
What’s one of the most interesting things you learned?
The most interesting thing I learned was about some of the autonomous machines that are coming out in the future.
How’d you become interested in turf?
I became interested in turf after enjoying the game of golf and working on the grounds crew for my club back home to get a free membership.
What got you interested in competing in the student turf bowl?
I was interested in competing in the turf bowl to show what my team and I have learned at Ohio State and on our internships.
WHAT'S NEXT AFTER GRADUATION?
After graduating, I would like to be a superintendent at my own course one day.
Closing thoughts?
Some advice I would give to other students it to take the opportunity to go to conferences when you can.
