John Finer, professor in HCS, will be recognized as a fellow at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, in Boston, MA on February 16, 2013.
Eighteen Ohio State University faculty members were elected into the newest class of fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Dr. Finer has been working in the area of gene introduction and gene expression analysis in a variety of different plants, including maize, wheat, tomato, bentgrass, cotton, white pine, Chinese yam, Christmas cactus and Ohio buckeye. His laboratory was the first university laboratory to report consistent recovery of transgenic plants of cotton, soybean and corn. Dr. Finer was recognized by AAAS for his distinguished contributions in the development of new and insightful approaches for increasing the efficiencies of gene transfer and expression analyses in crop plants.
