Congratulations to Kavya Sekar Susitha for taking home 3rd place in the Proposal Posters Category at the Graduate Research Symposium. The Graduate Research Symposium is an annual event hosted by the HCS Graduate Student Association that provides HCS students and faculty from both our Wooster and Columbus campuses the opportunity to come together to share their research!

Kavya is currently pursuing her PhD under the advisement of Dr. Leah McHale. We're thrilled to have Kavya in our department and fortunately she had a few moments to shed some further insight into her experiences at the 2025 Graduate Research Symposium...

WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS ON WINNING THIS AWARD?

It was my first GRS and winning an award was exciting!

HOW WAS THE GRS FOR YOU OVERALL?

My favorite moment was meeting different graduate students and getting to know about their research.

HOW’S YOUR RESEARCH GOING CURRENTLY?

I have genotyped the lines mentioned in my research proposal, and the plants are growing in the greenhouse. I would say it is progressing well.
