The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) has selected Dr. Chieri Kubota, a faculty member here in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science (HCS), as a 2023 Distinguished Professor of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences!
This award is a testament to the incredible hard work, dedication, and leading innovation that Dr. Kubota delivers on a daily basis to continuously help advance CFAES's missions through teaching, research and outreach.
Dr. Kubota joined our faculty in 2017 and is a Professor and the Director of Ohio Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (OHCEAC) at The Ohio State University. In research, she has worked on issues in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) crop production such as lighting technologies, water, and nutrient management, and introducing new crops for CEA. Additionally, she's a Fellow of the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS) and very active in training professionals through online courses, hands-on training, and consultations.
