The American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS) hosts an annual conference for horticulture researchers, scientists, industry, academia, government, and students to learn about and showcase new technology and advances in horticultural science. This year it was hosted in New Orleans, Louisiana.
It was a very successful year for those in the Owen Lab! Between the lab members, they provided 7 oral research presentations, presented in a workshop, and provided the OSU station report for a working group. More info about the group below...
Ty Rich, a former graduate student turned research associate in Dr. Garrett Owen's lab, placed first in the oral competition for floriculture and the oral competition for plant growth regulations. Ty's HortScience paper, "Quantifying Growth Control of Annual Bedding Plants with Ethephon Substrate Drenches" was selected for the Kenneth Post Award. This is a very prestigious award given annually to a graduate student and their advisor at ASHS. This award recognizes an excellent publication in the area of floriculture. Congratulations, Ty and Dr. Owen!
Olivia Liebing is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the propagation of woody ornamental nursery crops, under the guidance of Dr. Garrett Owen. Her success at ASHS includes placing second in the oral competition for plant growth regulation. Congratulations, Olivia!
