  1. Nathan Nordstedt wins Richard T. Meister Scholarship

    Horticutlure and Crop Science graduate student, Nathan Nordstedt, was awarded the Richard T. Meister Scholarship from the American Floral Endowment. The scholarship is for $3,900. Nathan is a Ph.D. student studying molecular biology of floriculture crops. Read more about Nathan's award here

    HCS Graduate students win awards at annual meeting of the Society for In Vitro Biology

    Two Horticulture and Crop Science graduate students won awards at the 2017 annual meeting of the Society for In Vitro Biology in Raleigh, North Carolina. 

    Andika Gunadi received first place in the graduate student oral competition for a presentation titled: "Soybean (Glycine max) Promoter Characterization through CRISPRi”

    Eric Dean received second place in the graduate student poster competition for a presentation titled: "A Soybean Glycinin Promoter Drives High Cotyledon-enhanced Expression in Both Somatic and Zygotic Embryos"

  4. Ph.D. student Kaylee South wins 2017 Paul Ecke, Jr. Scholarship

    HCS student, Kaylee South, was awarded the 2017 Paul Ecke Jr. Scholarship, a $10,000 scholarship through the American Floral Endowment. Kaylee is pursuing her Ph.D. in agriculture and is researching botrytis in floriculture crops.

    Freshman Lexi Heger was selected to join the CFAES Ambassador team on February 27, 2017. Lexi is a Sustainable Plant Systems major with a specialization in Horticulture. The CFAES Ambassadors are the face of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. They interact with prospective students, families, donors, and alumni. Ambassadors also serve as liaisons to the Ohio State student body to help increase awareness about our college. They are encouraged to become involved in industry relating to their area of study.

    On January 15, 2017, Steven Shavel was awarded an ONLA Phil Kozel Memorial Scholarship. Steven received the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation award in December 2016. Steven has also won scholarships from Columbus District of Golf, Northern Ohio Golf Course Superintendents Association, and the Central Ohio Golf Course Superintendents Association.
