  1. HCS students chosen for AmericanHort HortScholar class of 2021

    Horticulture and Crop Science PhD student Juan Quijia Pillajo, and undergraduate Sustainable Plant Systems major, Jayden Black were selected to join AmericanHort's HortScholar class of 2021. Juan completed a Masters degree with Dr. Michelle Jones before moving on to a PhD program within HCS. As a Sustainable Plant Systems major, Jayden is focusing on Horticulture. He also has a passion for Agribusiness.

    The CFAES Distinguished Senior Award honors academic, disciplinary and professional excellence in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. It is the most prestigious undergraduate award in CFAES, recognizing our top graduating seniors each year from each of the academic units on the Columbus campus. The selected students’ accomplishments and activities have benefited their communities, their academic unit, the college, the university, and/or their future profession.

  6. Recent HCS MS degree graduate receives 2nd place for paper

    A recent published paper titled “Multistate Evaluation of Reduced-Lignin Alfalfa Harvested at Different Intervals” authored by Angie Arnold, a recent HCS MS degree graduate, and Prof. Mark Sulc along with a team of researchers from six other universities was selected as second place winner in the Crop Science Outstanding Paper Award for the Forage and Grazinglands Division (C6) of the Crop Science Society of America.

  8. HCS graduate student wins 2nd place

    HCS graduate student, John Ertle, wins 2nd place at the Graduate Student Poster Competition at ASHS (American Society for Horticultural Science) for his presentation: "Demand is High for Grafted Transplants: A Survey of North American Grafting Nurseries". John just finished his Masters degree and will continue on to complete his PhD.

    Congratulations to all the Sustainable Plant Systems (SPS) majors who made the Dean's List for Spring 2020. We are proud of our students' resilience this past spring as Ohio State transitioned from tradiational in-person classes to online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
