  1. Ohio Soybean Council Foundation Scholarship

    The Ohio Soybean Council Foundation is pleased to offer $36,000 in scholarships to undergraduate and graduate Students for the 2016-2017 academic year. Scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing studies related to the soybean industry and the field of agriculture.

    The deadline to apply is January 15, 2016 at 5:00pm, applications are available at www.soyohio.org/scholarship.

  2. "Grower of the Year" and "Winemaker of the Year"

    “The Ohio Grape Industries Committee (OGIC) will recognize grape and wine producers in Ohio with the first-ever “Grower of the Year” and “Winemaker of the Year” awards to be presented at the 2016 Ohio Grape & Wine Conference on Feb 15-16 in Dublin, Ohio. If you know a grape grower in Ohio who displays outstanding vineyard management or a winemaker who displays outstanding winemaking, please nominate them for the award by completing and returning the attached forms, no later than December 11, 2015.”

  3. American Floral Endowment Scholarship Awarded to HCS student

    Tanner Cole, a Sustainable Plant Systems major specializing in Horticulture was awarded the Earl Dedman Memorial Scholarship and the James K. Rathmell, Jr. Memorial Scholarship for Horticultural Work/Study Abroad from the American Floral Endwoment.

  5. Bill and Vivian win first prizes for their presentations at the HCS research retreat!

    At the 2015 Horticulture and Crop Science research retreat, Bill Rolling was awarded first prize in the category of PhD Oral Presentation for his presentation entitled "Genome-wide association analysis of partial resistance to Phytophthora sojae in soybean plant introductions form the Republic of Korea."

  7. Welcome Dr. Alexander Lindsey!

    On September 1, the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science hired a new faculty member, Dr. Alexander Lindsey. Alex started his career in Agriculture as an undergraduate at Michigan State University. When asked about what sparked his interest in the agricultural field Alex said, “I started out picking strawberries for my uncle in high school and realized how much effort went into food production. I saw first-hand the difficulties associated with farming, and thought it would be great to help find solutions to agricultural problems.

  8. NEW Weed Science iBooks Available!

    The Department of Horticulture and Crop Science's Weed Science specialists have produced three iBooks that are available for download from Apple's iBook store. The digital books cover topics from basic principles of weed ecology, to identifying weeds and noxious weeds of Ohio. The iBooks contain beautiful photos and videos that give the reader a comprehensive learning experience. The books are compatible with Mac computers, iPads, and iPhone. A PC/Google version will be coming soon!

  9. Ross Heart Hospital Garden - In the News

    The Department of Horticulture and Crop Science has partnered with the Wexner Medical Center's Ross Heart Hospital to create a community garden. HCS staff member, Elaine Grassbaugh works with the workshops that help introduce healthy food options for patients.
